John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. KJV
I watched a movie last night about a volcanic eruption. Im certain the movie was intended to heighten emotions, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats; and make them more aware of the possibility of a major eruption. Of course this causes fear to arise in their heart.
I felt the tension in my own body grow as I watched the volcano erupt, hot lava oozing across the land and ash filling the air as a mushroom cloud covered the earth below. My mind raced with horrifying thoughts. It was at that instant the inner voice of the Holy Spirit urged me to turn off the television. I turned it off, went to my room to read and thanked God for his peace and protection. I slept well, and heres a wonderful scripture for those of you who dont. Proverbs 3:24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. KJV
All we have to do is look around us to see that disasters are at every turn. As a matter of fact, there has been an increase this year. We have many opportunities to allow terror to overtake us. Yet God says to Be of good Cheer. He has overcome the world. So why do we continue to worry and fret over things we can so simply turn over to the Lord?
As Jesus hung on the Cross, he spoke three final words, It is finished. Jesus tasted sin, death, and the cross and was about to go into the pits of hell to pay a price for something he did not owe. But, in doing so, we were pardoned from a horrible eternal death and separation from God for sin we did commit. As he spoke those words, he wanted everyone to know that he was making peace with the Father for all through his shed blood and death. He's no longer in the grave, for he arose victorious. Once that debt was paid, provision for our every need was met. O Praise His Holy Name!
Yes, we still have tribulation, but if we keep our focus on Jesus, and hide under the protective shield of God, we can have perfect peace. Through every moment of every day, we can walk victorious because of the Lord.
Prayer: Father thank you for the finished work on the Cross. I pray that every reader will know and experience your perfect peace in every situation. Amen
